The Bester family gathered at Gearings Point on a bright Hermanus morning, all coming together to celebrate their mom’s 70th birthday, three adult children, their partners, and grandchildren buzzing between everyone with that easy family excitement. 

Even early in the day the sun was sharp, so we wandered along the cliff paths in search of softer light, stopping at lookout points and venturing onto the rocks just close enough to feel the ocean’s presence without being caught by it. From there we followed the pathway beside the old white historical wall, one of those unexpected places where you look down and see nothing but endless blue and then continued toward the iconic milkwood shaped into a natural canopy over the walkway, a perfect little pocket for gathering everyone together. 

We ended with a few fun shots in the quiet street nearby, where the family’s warmth, humour, and the joy of celebrating seventy beautiful years came through in every frame.
