Michael’s Matric Farewell felt a little extra special for me—having known him since he was barely tall enough to peep over a camera lens, capturing him now in his black suit, blue jacket, and quiet confidence felt like watching one of “our” kids step into his next chapter. I began the shoot with him alone in the courtyard at The Wine Glass, and once Kat arrived—elegant in her black dress—we snapped a few more there before heading into the surrounding galleries, where they settled so easily into each space. After the shoot, his parents, Kim and Fritz, his older brother, Juan, as well as Kat’s mom and stepfather joined in, all of them overflowing with the kind of pride that turns a moment into a memory. It was a beautiful blend of nostalgia, joy, and new beginnings… and I’m truly honoured I got to capture it.
